THE marketing push for the Socceroos upcoming clash with Uzbekistan evokes memories of 'that night' against Uruguay and the goalkeeping hero that night would love to recreate the atmosphere on April 1.
For the Socceroos most memorable night in Sydney just click for the happy memories
While John Aloisi's penalty is much-talked about and viewed again and again and again, it was the penalty shoot-out heroics of Mark Schwarzer that were arguably just as crucial.
Schwarzer has never forgotten the atmosphere on that November night in 2005 and he feels the fans have their part to play in helping the Socceroos cross the line and book their spot in South Africa.
Speaking ahead of the clash, he told the FFA's official website: "It's going to be very, very difficult to match that atmosphere in 2005. But I hope we can go close.
"I'm very confident the public will come out and support us as they always do and hopefully we can repay that support by performing well and winning the game and taking that extra step towards qualification.
"It's massive; nothing beats going out in front of a full stadium, full of fanatical fans that are backing your every step on the field."
If he takes the field as expected in Australia's World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan in Sydney on April 1 it will be 15 years and 244 days since Schwarzer's international debut against Canada on July 31, 1993.
The 36-year-old will break by one day the record held by Tony Vidmar, who made his first representative appearance on February 6, 1991, and bowed out on October 7, 2006.
Schwarzer said that while it would be 'very nice' to set a new mark for longevity his plan is to extend the record well beyond a single day.
"My main aim is to qualify for the (2010) World Cup and then go to the World Cup and have a successful tournament again like we did in 2006," Schwarzer said.
"I'd like to set ourselves a goal to even better that."
"It's one thing saying it and another thing doing it, but you've got to set yourself high standards and I believe that we can achieve those goals."
"First, let's get there and once we get there we can talk about what the future holds for us as a team or for me as an individual."
Tickets for the game are available through the FFA's official website or Ticketek on 132 849.
