Despite watching his side pull France apart in the second half in Porto Alegre on Sunday, Scolari argued Brazil are 'slowly' becoming a competitive team, adding that some 'minor errors' would need to be fixed before their Confederations Cup opener versus Japan on Saturday.

Sunday's result was just Scolari's second win in charge of Brazil since he took over the head coaching role in November last year.

"We have to keep working so we can reach the World Cup with a competitive team," Scolari said.

"A team organised to win matches.

"This is happening slowly.

"This was the first week that the whole group worked together.

"Now we'll have another week until the opening match against Japan.

"We'll fix some minors errors so our players will be in their best shape.

"We'll add on what we did today against France."

Scolari made it clear he has one goal for the Confederations Cup - to win, while he also praised the fans at Porto Alegre's Arena do Gremio.

"We needed this extra push from our fans to give this huge leap against such a big team as France and now we can focus on winning the Confederations Cup," Scolari said.

Oscar, Hernanes and Lucas Moura all scored after half-time for Brazil as they handed France a third consecutive defeat but the visitors' head coach Didier Deschamps argued his team should have gone closer to at least a draw having conceded twice in the last 10 minutes.

Sunday's match was France's third without scoring a goal, adding weight to Deschamps' claim that his team need to be more 'efficient' in front of goal.

"I think today we had opportunities but we must become more efficient in taking them if we are to make the difference in these games," Deschamps said.

"We can't make the same mistakes.

"We had enough opportunities today, not a lot but they were there."
