It was déjà vu for both sides.

Perth had no answers for the second home game in a row, slumping to a 2-0 defeat. Melbourne City were content to let Glory control the match with little impact, and set-pieces were the difference.

McCormack scored another brace, taking his tally to 12 strikes in 14 matches this season. Arzani earned both of McCormack’s goals for the second week in a row.

The win keeps City firmly in third place, within touching distance of Newcastle, while Perth’s final hopes are beginning to look less than likely.

McCormack was his usual bubbly self, he’s loving life in Australia, minus the plane trips between matches.

“I started slowly, and it took me awhile to get over the jet lag, but we came back strongly,” he said. “We’ve got a lot of games left and a lot to play for.

“(The top two) were starting to pull away, even tonight we were no where near our best, but we’re starting to get back to grinding out results.

“I’m used to Saturday – Tuesday every week in England, maybe not the four-hour flights to Perth, but there’s good banter on the airplane.”

Scott Neville didn’t have the luxury of referring to banter or jet lag. His mind was on the fans.

“We’re very lethargic and we’ve got to work harder,” he said.

“On game day and in training we’ve got to work harder because it’s not acceptable for the fans.

“Diving tackles is a sign of poor match fitness. I thought the penalty was pretty soft, but VAR deemed it a penalty.”
