With the CIS Cup Final locked at 0-0 at the conclusion of a mediocre first 90 minutes at Glasgow's Hamden Park, the match went into extra time.

One minute into extra time McDonald was fouled just outside the box and Celtic scored from the subsequent free kick. McDonald missed a good chance to finish the game but Celtic sealed it with a penalty in injury time. The Hoops took the trophy home with a 2-0 win.

In the Dutch Eredivisie Jason Culina played the full shift for PSV Eindhoven but PSV misfired with a number of chances before Feyenoord Rotterdam took their opportunity to win the match 1-0.

Harry Kewell was missing from the starting line-up as Galatasaray drew 2-2 with Trabzonspor. Gala were leading 2-1 but were reduced to ten men in the 82nd minute and conceded an equaliser two minutes later.

In Saturday's Turkish Super Lig matches Michael Petkovic kept a clean sheet for leaders Sivasspor in their 2-0 win over Ankaragucu while James Troisi and Mile Jedinak started and Bruce Djite came off the bench in the 66th minute for Genclerbirligi but they lost 3-0 to Besiktas.

In the Swiss Super League Scott Chipperfield headed another goal for FC Basel as they topped the table in their 4-0 thrashing of FC Sion Sitten and Mark Rudan played a full shift as FC Vaduz earned a much needed 3-1 win over Young Boys.

In Saturday's English Premier League matches Mark Viduka missed out on Newcastle's trip to Hull with an achilles injury but Richard Garcia came off the bench for Hull in the 70th minute and the match locked at one goal apiece. Garcia couldn't inspire the Tigers to a winning goal however and earned a booking instead as the game finished 1-1.

At the Riverside Stadium Brad Jones' Middlesbrough looked set to consolidate their position in the drop zone against Portsmouth. In the 77th minute at 1-0 down Boro's Matthew Bates was red carded for a second offence but instead of languishing with ten men Boro were inspired to claim an equaliser in injury time, finishing the game 1-1.

Mark Schwarzer's Fulham earned their first away win since last season against Bolton. Just before the half hour Schwarzer dropped a Bolton free kick and then blocked another attempt on the re-bound before the ball was fired wide. The Cottagers went on to score two second half goals to win the game 3-1.

Tim Cahill came off at half time with a minor calf injury for Everton's clash with Stoke. Before that Cahill's header on goal was blocked by Stoke's keeper into the path of Joleon Lescott who slotted in Everton's second goal. The blues went on to take the match 3-1.

Nick Carle was back in the line up for Crystal Palace in their 3-1 Championship triumph over Swansea. Carle had an early opportunity but shot straight at the keeper however the Eagles went on to score three second half goals, including one indirectly from a Carle free kick.

David Carney came off the bench in the second half and Adrian Leijer was a 90th minute substitute in Norwich City's 1-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle.

Adam Federici became a victim of Reading's poor run of form when rival goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann was promoted to the starting line and Federici was dropped to the bench for Reading's 1-0 loss to Ipswich.

In the Scottish Premier League Danny Invincible missed two chances for Kilmarnock when they travelled to Inverness and Killie rued the missed opportunity as they lost the match 2-1. James Wesolowski played the full shift for Dundee United but they also lost 2-1 to Motherwell.

In English League One Patrick Kisnorbo made his first appearance in four months for Leicester in League One. He came on the field in the 82nd minute of Leicster's 1-0 victory over Millwall.

Joel Porter played 86 minutes for Hartlepool but the Pools went down 2-0 to Cheltenham. Chris Coyne played the full shift for Colchester in their 1-0 loss to Crewe and Neil Kilkenny was in the starting line-up playing 79 minutes for Leeds as they defeated Swindon Town 1-0.

In League Two Aaron Downes got a full shift in but Chesterfield succumbed to a 1-1 draw when Dagenham and Redbridge scored an injury time equaliser. Shane Sheriff started the match for Shrewsbury Town against Gillingham but came off at halftime. Shrewsbury went on to stage a comeback from 2 goals down to draw the match 2-2.

In Scottish Division One Erik Paartalu came off the bench in the second half of Greenock Morton match up with Clyde but earned a late booking in Morton's 2-0 win and Simon Storey played the full shift of Partick Thistle's 1-0 victory over Dunfermline.

Elsewhere in Europe Carl Valeri started for Grosseto in their Italian Serie B clash with Salernitana but came off in the 68th minute of their 2-0 defeat.

Luke Wilkshire was back on the paddock as Dinamo Moscow started their Russian Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win over FC Moskow and in the Greek Super League Nathan Burns made a rare appearance off the bench for AEK Athens in their 1-0 victory over OFI Crete.
