The 41-year-old striker has recently come under attack from team-mate Amaral, who claims the team is finding it difficult to cope with "the pressure" of helping the former Brazil international net his 1,000th career goal.

He came under similar criticism while playing four games for Adelaide United last season, finding the net just once.

Romario told Rede O Globo: "People who are not satisfied with this can ask the [club] president to quit, even the coach.

"I've always played for top teams and nothing like this has happened. For some people, responsibility is hard to assume, for some others it is not.

"If Amaral is uncomfortable, he should play in a more minor team."

Romario also revealed that Vasco coach Renato Gaucho and defender Leandro had joined in with the chorus of criticism.

"Leandro and Renato also said some things, but I am not affecting the team," he said.

"More experienced people would have a calmer mind and say only positive things."
