Adrian Mutu inspired Fiorentina to a hard-fought victory over Torino on Saturday to keep alive their challenge for fourth place.
The Romanian striker won a first-half penalty after he was fouled by Marco Di Loreto but allowed Christian Vieri to score from the spot to notch his 200th goal in Italy.
Vincenzo Grella levelled matters just before the hour mark but Mutu was on hand to ensure the Viola's third win on the bounce when he scored another penalty 14 minutes from time.
Elsewhere in Serie A, Genoa came from behind to take all three points against Atalanta.
The match came alive in the final quarter as Cristiano Doni put Atalanta ahead with a penalty in the 67th minute.
Genoa equalised through Marco Borriello in the 72nd minute before substitute Figueroa won it for the hosts seven minutes from time.
