Australian attacker Chris Ikonomidis’ failure to make the final cut for the Socceroos squad was due to a shoulder injury which will see him sidelined for a month.
Ikonomidis dislocated his shoulder playing for AGF against Randers, forcing him off in the second half of a Superliga match earlier this month.
The injury forced Ikonomidis out of Australia’s squad for the upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Iraq and UAE.
FourFourTwo understands 21-year-old Ikonomidis will be out of action for at least the next three weeks.
Ikonomidis has six caps for Australia, the last being against Greece in a friendly at the Etihad Stadium in June, although he has been a regular in Socceroos squads.
The Sydney-born attacking midfielder has enjoyed his maiden full season of first-team football with AGF, having joined the Danish club on loan from Lazio.
Ikonomidis, who spent six months on loan at Serie B club Salernitana last term, has made 16 appearances and scored one goal for AGF.
