Sydney FC striker Matt Simon is facing a potential suspension after he was cited for striking Melbourne City defender Michael Jakobsen.
Simon came on late in Friday's top two clash and immediately made his presence felt in an ill-tempered contest marred by accusations of diving.
The combatative forward and Jakobsen had to be separated several times by teammates as tempers threatened to boil over at ANZ Stadium.
In the 82nd minute, and behind play, Simon appeared to throw his shoulder into the head of Jakobsen, sending him sprawling. No action was taken by referee Kris Griffiths-Jones at the time.

The Match Review Panel has issued Simon with a show cause notice and given him until 1pm Tuesday to respond to the charge.
City opened the scoring through a stunning goal by Fernando Brandan on 32 minutes before Sydney, chasing the game a man down, rescued a point.
Marquee Bobo was fouled in the box and equalised from the spot on 80 minutes to keep Sydney's unbeaten run alive.
