Six players from former S-League side Liaoning Guangyuan have been fined and handed jail sentences after admitting that they had accepted money from their team manager to throw games last season.
The sentences were handed down on Tuesday after all six pleaded guilty to the match-fixing charges laid against them.
Li Xuebai, 30, Li Zheng, 26, Dong Lei, 26, Peng Zhiyi, 22, and Tong Di, 26, were each jailed for five months, while Wang Lin, 20, received a four-month sentence.
Another Liaoning player, 26-year-old Zhao Zhipeng, was sentenced to seven months in jail earlier this year after also pleading guilty to the charges, although his prison term was later reduced to five months.
All seven accepted a total of S$27,950 from team manager Wang Xin to intentionally lose six S-League games last year.
Investigations revealed that Wang, who jumped bail in January after being allowed to return to China for another court case, placed bets on the matches on a Chinese betting website.
After a dismal first season in the S-League, Liaoning were replaced this year by another Chinese club, Dalian Shide.
