Australia and Honduras meet at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday in the second leg, after the first leg finished 0-0 in San Pedro Sula.

Skoko has called on Socceroo fans to fill the 83,500-capacity ground in Sydney's west, which was also the location for the famous 2005 World Cup qualifier against Uruguay.

"I doubt there's going to spare tickets available," Skoko told FourFourTwo.

"It will be a sellout and the Aussie supporters have to get really behind it because we're going to need that 12th man of the day.

"Going into the second half if we need to get a result, if we need to pull out something that 12th man can help turn things around for us.

"I think the fans will come out and I think it's something that needs to happen. The stadium needs to be filled. Obviously being part of such historic moments I don't think that will be an issue."

Skoko was a member of the team that ended the Socceroos' 32-year absence of the World Cup on penalties at the same stadium 12 years ago.

"2005 was a crazy night and there's been a few," he said.

"Australia's now in a different qualifying path but there you go, it's back again - another one-off, home and away leg so it will be a special night again if we qualify on the night."
