Socceroo Scott Chipperfield kept his Swiss Super League club FC Basle in the title race with a vital goal that puts his side right behind the leaders.
FC Zurich remained top of the Swiss Axpo Super League after defeating Lucerne 2-0 on Wednesday...but Basle are now just one point behind.
It took until the 73rd minute before FC Zurich finally broke through the visitor's defence as Clederson Cesar fired home and seven minutes later substitute Francileudo Santos added a second to complete the victory.
The win left FC Zurich one point clear at the top of the table after Basle completed a comfortable 2-0 win over FC Sion.
The hosts went ahead through Australian fullback Scott Chipperfield five minutes before the break and Daniel Majstorovic scored in the 56th minute before the visitors had Jamal Alioui dismissed two minutes later.
Young Boys are third after snatching a 1-0 win at FC Thun with Thomas Haberli grabbing the decisive goal in the 51st minute.
Elsewhere St Gallen drew 1-1 with Schaffhausen while Grasshoppers played out a goalless draw with Aarau.
