The Central Coast Mariners prodigy joined English Premier League side Newcastle in January 2023 - shortly after becoming the youngest-ever Australian to appear at a men's World Cup - and was immediately loaned out to top-flight Scottish club Hearts.

He scored one goal in eight league games for the Edinburgh outfit as they finished fourth in the Scottish Premiership.

The next step in Kuol's European football education will take place at Dutch Eredivisie side FC Volendam, who kick off their season with a home match against Vitesse on Friday (Saturday AEST).

The young forward burst onto the scene with the Mariners in the 2021-22 campaign, going on to score seven goals in 22 league and cup appearances before securing his high-profile move to the EPL.

He has yet to make an appearance for Newcastle with manager Eddie Howe keen for Kuol to get more high-level experience.

"Garang Kuol has joined Eredivisie side FC Volendam on loan for the 2023/24 season, subject to necessary approvals," Newcastle posted on their social media announcing the move.

"Good luck Garang!"
