The match at Sydney Football Stadium on Saturday October 13 will be the first visit to Australia since 1985 for the 2004 Asian Cup runner-up.

“This will be the last chance for Australian sports fans to see the Qantas Socceroos live in action this year,” said Football Federation Australia Chief Executive Ben Buckley.

"It will also be the final match prior to the start of Australia’s World Cup campaign early next year.

“With the 'Road to South Africa' starting in February- and it being our first qualifying campaign through Asia - this match against such a strong Asian opponent will really be a sneak preview of our World Cup qualifying journey.

He added: "It will also be the last chance for players to impress in the national colours before February, so there will be plenty at stake.

“Recent matches at the Sydney Football Stadium have seen a superb atmosphere and this fixture promises to be a great occasion.

“There are a broad range of ticket pricing available and we expect demand to be strong through the Football Family and amongst Aussie sports fans.”

Tickets will go on sale via Ticketek to the Football Family on Tuesday, August 28, and to the general public on Wednesday, September 5.

Australia played China earlier this year in March in Guangzhou and won 2-0 thanks to goals from Brett Holman and Mark Bresciano.

The match will be televised live and exclusive on FOX SPORTS.
