Australia will face World Cup champions Germany in their opening match of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
The Socceroos were drawn in Group B which also included Chile and the yet to be determined champion of Africa.
The draw was made at a lavish ceremony in Kazan, Russia on Sunday morning (AEDT).
Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou attended the event.

In the other group, Russia, New Zealand, Portugal and Mexico were drawn together. The opening match of the tournament will see hosts Russia face New Zealand on Saturday June 17 next year in Saint Petersburg at the Saint Petersburg Stadium.
A test event for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the tournament features winners of all six Confederations titles joined by the host country (Russia) and current World Cup Champions (Germany).

The Confederations Cup runs from June 17 until July 2017
The top two teams in each section advances to the semi-finals. Group matches will be held in Kazan, Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Sochi.

The identity of Africa's representative in the tournament will be revealed at the final of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations on February 5 next year.

The Socceroos qualified for the tournament after claiming the 2015 AFC Asian Cup on home soil in January 2015, defeating the Korea Republic 2-1 in front of 80,000 fans at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.
Australia has qualified for the FIFA Confederations Cup on three previous occasions but this is the first time it has qualified as Champions of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Australia competed in the 1997 (Saudi Arabia), 2001 (Japan and Korea) and 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup (Germany) as Champions of Oceania (OFC).
