"Like the famous night against Uruguay in 2005, the stadium will be full of passionate fans doing all they can to inspire the Socceroos to victory," said FFA CEO David Gallop.

"The captain Lucas Neill and the players have made it clear the fans have a crucial role to play. On behalf of FFA I say thank you to the Australian football community for responding by making this a sell out.

"History beckons us on Tuesday night, but we can take nothing for granted as the Socceroos attempt to qualify for their third straight FIFA World Cup finals."
