Thailand coach Chanvit Polchovin insists the Asian Cup co-hosts will not be intimidated by Australia's big names in their potentially crucial Group A meeting in Bangkok next month.
Socceroos coach Graham Arnold has called-up several players from across Europe in his 23-man Asian Cup squad, including Newcastle striker Mark Viduka, Everton's Tim Cahill and Liverpool midfielder Harry Kewell.
But Chanvit, who is currently putting his Thailand squad through their paces at a pre-tournament training camp in Germany, insists his side will stand up to the Socceroos in their Group A finale following games against Iraq and Oman.
"Although Australia have players like Tim Cahill, Mark Viduka and Harry Kewell we are one of the hosts of the tournament and we are not scared of them," Chanvit told the Bangkok Post. "Their squad is as strong as I expected it to be.
"It will be good to face them in our last match in the group stage and we hope that we will qualify to the knockout stage."
Thailand are set to play friendlies with Borussia Dortmund on June 16, Fulda on June 20 and Eintracht Frankfurt side on June 24 during their stay in Germany.
