The Socceroos were scheduled to play at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bagkok but the Asian Football Confederation has received a request form the Football Association of Thailand to relocate the clash to another country.

Football Federation Australia said no decision had been announced.

"Following the death of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, Football Federation Australia (FFA) is currently awaiting official notification from FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on the status of the Australia v Thailand 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier due to be played in Bangkok on 15 November," an FFA spokesperson said.

"FFA would like to offer its sincere condolences to the Thailand Royal Family, the Football Association of Thailand and the people of Thailand."

The change is likely to cause havoc for Socceroos fans who have already booked flights and accommodation ahead of the match.

Australia has yet to play Thailand in the final phase of qualification.

The Socceroos currently sit second in Group B, having relinquished top spot to Saudi Arabia following a 1-1 draw with Japan earlier in the week. Thailand have yet to record a point in the final phase qualifiers for Russia 2018.
