The Socceroos have risen to 36th in the world in the latest FIFA Rankings, representing the side's highest ranking since 2013.
Australia rose two spots from December's FIFA Rankings release, despite not playing during the period.
The Socceroos leapfrogged both Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina into 36th.
Australia were last ranked 36th in 2013, in similar circumstances upon qualification for the 2014 World Cup.
Iran remains the Asian Football Confederation's highest ranked team sitting two spots ahead of Australia in 34th, despite falling two places.
The top 14 nations in the world have remained the same, with Germany ranked first ahead of Brazil, Portugal and Argentina.
Australia's 2018 World Cup group opponents France (9th), Peru (11th) and Denmark (12th) are unchanged.
