Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the Deutscher Fussball-Bund (DFB) today announced that the Socceroos will meet the German National Football Team "The Mannschaft", in an international friendly match at Borussia-Park in Mönchengladbach in Germany on Tuesday 29 March 2011.

FFA CEO Ben Buckley said the match was part of a strategic plan aimed at getting the best competition possible for the Qantas Socceroos over the next four years.

"As we saw at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa Germany is one of the best teams in the world," Buckley said.

"I'm sure that our boys and all Australian supporters will be looking forward to this rematch since our last result against Germany was not very favourable.

"We will continue to play the world's top flight opposition with our next assignment against Paraguay, who made the Quarter Finals of the FIFA World Cupin South Africa, at the Sydney Football Stadium on October 9."

Qantas Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck is excited about the prospect of facing off against the German National team.

"This will be a very special match and a great opportunity to test ourselves against a very well-respected opponent," said Osieck.

"The German National team has a very rich and successful football history with a very talented group of current players.

"But I am confident that our players will be up for the challenge against such quality opposition," concluded Osieck.

Germany finished in 3rd place at the recent 2010 FIFA World Cup and are currently ranked 3rd in the FIFA World Rankings.

This will be the fourth meeting of the two nations at senior men's international level with the Germans victorious on each of the three previous occasions which includes their 4-0 victory over the Qantas Socceroos at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
