The Socceroos will meet France, Denmark and Peru in the group stage at the 2018 World Cup following Saturday morning's (AEDT) FIFA draw.
Australia were drawn in Group C against the 1998 World Cup champions, along with Peru, who've not made the finals since 1982, and 1992 European champions Denmark.
France are currently ranked ninth in the world, but made the final of the 2016 European Championships.
Denmark are ranked 12th in the world with Peru sitting in 11th.
Australia last faced France in 2013 prior to the 2014 World Cup, suffering a 6-0 loss in Paris which triggered Holger Osieck's dismissal.
The Socceroos will meet France first up in Kazan on 16 June.
Australia will next face Denmark on Samara on 21 June, before playing Peru on 26 June in Sochi.
