The Socceroos will play Honduras next month in an inter-continental playoff for qualification to the 2018 World Cup.
Honduras downed Mexico 3-2 following Panama's 2-1 win against Costa Rica and Trindad and Tobago's 2-1 victory over the USA.
Australia kept their World Cup hopes alive by downing Syria 2-1 in Sydney on Tuesday night.
Honduras and Australia will now meet in November over two legs.
