Tottenham are expected to complete the signing of Soldado in the coming days for a transfer fee believed to be worth £25.9million; a record for the English Premier League club.

And speaking to reporters before flying out to London to undergo a medical, the 28-year-old forward delivered a parting shot to Salvo.

"I think this transfer is good for Valencia and for me," Soldado said.

"The reason why I haven't spoken about it until now was so I wouldn't want to tarnish the image of Valencia or jeopardise the deal.

"I have decided to speak today after everything has been finalised.

"The reason I'm leaving is because I don't have faith in the current project and because the president has been lying for a long time, to me personally over the telephone.

"He's also lied to you (the media).

"A lot of the information you have received I believe was leaked by him. He has caused a lot of damage for me and my people, who are like family to me.

"I think there have been a lot of things lacking. I don't want to get into a mudslinging match with the club because I don't think it will solve anything. It won't help the project and I don't want to unsettle my teammates.

"I don't believe in the project but hopefully I'm wrong and the president becomes the most successful in the club's history.

"Good luck to him. Valencia will always be in our hearts."

Soldado, who was the most prolific Spaniard in the last three La Liga seasons with 75 goals since joining Valencia from rivals Getafe, said linking up with Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane was his own decision.

"The most important thing is that there was a club that showed a lot of interest in me," Soldado said.

"From the first moment I spoke to the president about it I made things very clear and he knew I wanted to leave.

"I'd like to make it clear that the decision to leave was mine and my families. No one forced me to leave, that's all."

As the Spaniard jets into London, star attacker Gareth Bale appears to be on his way out with Real Madrid circling, but Soldado is hopeful of playing alongside the Welshman.

"We all know what kind of player (Bale) is," Soldado said.

"He's a great player and we can see how hard the club is working to keep him. I personally hope that they can hold onto him."
