BRISBANE Roar remain undefeated at home this season, triumping 2-1 over the Melbourne Victory in a Hyundai A-League epic at Suncorp Stadium.
Mitch Nichols grabbed the lead for the home-side in the 26th minute and Brisbane looked like running away with it, but Melbourne came back strongly in the second-half, and after Robbie Kruse levelled scores in the 48th, it took a goal from Solorzano against the run-of-play in the 77th to seal the result.
The win takes Brisbane's undefeated streak at home to eight games, and makes amends for their 3-0 loss to the Victory earlier in the season. With the three points Brisbane stay hot on the heels of competition leaders Adelaide, who are three points clear.
The Roar were typically aggressive and in the opening exchanges and both Massimo Murdocca and Ivan Franjic took the chance to fire from range.
But it was back and forth in the early stages and Melbourne were looking dangerous with Ricardinho receiving plenty of quality ball from the midfield and pressuring Michael Theoklitos.
But in the 26th minute Brisbane put themselves on the board through a well taken corner.
Broich played short to McKay then quickly took it back, sending in a cross for Erik Paartalu to rise above and head towards the back post where Mitch Nichols was waiting for the tap-in.
Leading at home and with a vocal crowd behind them, Brisbane found another gear and all of a sudden the chances were coming thick and fast.
Paartalu again rose above the pack from a corner to send a header towards the goal where Michael Petkovic made a reflex save.
Reinaldo had a headed shot of his own from a corner and so it continued with the Roar full of confidence and Matt McKay and Thomas Broich tearing their opponents apart with masterful passing.
But after the break Robbie Kruse sprung an ambush on his former club, taking a ball from outside the area, creating space with a good touch and then firing with a brilliant right-foot shot to beat Theoklitos just inside the far post.
Kruse ran towards Brisbane's home end, ‘The Den', and heightened the tension by kissing the Victory logo on his chest.
Back on level pegging, the sides fell into an arm wrestle, both fighting for the momentum.
Ivan Franjic should have had his second goal in two weeks, when a deflected shot from Broich fell right to his feet inside the area , but he sent the volley well over the bar.
Heading into the final 20, the Victory were taking control, and for one of the first times this season, Brisbane were hit with sustained pressure deep inside their own territory.
Kruse played a lovely floating cross to Billy Celeski who was unmarked, but he couldn't control his shot, thumping it wide from point blank to waste a great opportunity.
In the 77th minute, centre-back Luke DeVere took matters into his own hands, steaming onto the ball from half-way and driving straight through the middle and into the box, where a slide tackle from Adrian Leijer knocked the ball free and Solorzano was on hand to smash home his first-ever A-League goal.
As time ticked down Brisbane were forced to nervously defend, and Leijer was almost the hero, but his head from a corner flew wide, luckily for Theoklitos, who was hopelessly out of position.
But Theoklitos was brilliant just moments later, making two exceptional saves in the 90th minute to ensure Brisbane would hold the lead to the final whistle.
Brisbane Roar: 2 (Nichols 26, Solorzano 77)
