Solorzano arrived a week before the start of the new season but did not make the teamsheet for the opening day 0-0 draw on the Gold Coast.

Roar say the Costa Rican striker, on loan from powerhouse LD Alajuelense, is more likely to be ready for the Newcastle Jets game away on September 5.

And the club deny Solorzano has an injury – rumoured to be osteitis pubis – saying it’s a lack of match fitness issue that is keeping him out of Ange Postecoglou’s first team.

While awaiting his visa, Solorzano trained by himself for two weeks in Argentina and arrived lacking sharpness as a result. That fitness is slowly being built up and and sharpness is something Solorzano has noticed from the last two weeks of watching Roar and the A-League.

"I am very impressed, especially with the way the team is willing to play. It's a very intense type of play,” he told au.foufourtwo.com.

"We like to build up the play with a high intensity for the full 90 minutes. The squad is not just technically good, but the speed and intensity at which the coach wants us to play is very pleasing.

“This type of game suits my game because pace is one of my main qualities.”

New Roar captain Matt McKay described Solorzano as a player with loads of A-League potential and likened him to an A-League great.

“He’s a solid boy, comes with a good reputation apparently in the ilk of Archie Thompson," said McKay. "If he’s a lot like that, we’ll be happy.

“We had a shit year last year. It will be exciting this year," he told au.fourfourtwo.com.

Solorzano will be in the Suncorp stands tomorrow night  for their opening home game of the season.

After last season’s underwhelming crowds and supporter unrest at ticket pricing, there are genuine hopes that a new season brings fresh optimism and a five figure crowd on Saturday night– despite the federal election coverage.

The crowd figure will be of keen interest after Brisbane wisely made a concerted effort to reconnect with their supporters over the off-season.

This programme  of appearances culminated in the players appearing at the Queen St Mall earlier in the week while club mascot “Roary” has been campaigning hard for fans to snub the election coverage and support Roar in this state of origin clash.

Roary cannot speak and Solorzano too feels a sense of frustration at the language barrier.

The Costa Rican added: "I like to work hard and I don't think I will have many problems adjusting to the way the team plays.

"And if I could speak the language right now, for me it would be paradise."
