Dean Furman, 20, who plays for Scottish Premier League club Rangers, has been included for the first time, while there are recalls for Arminia Bielefeld midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi and Matthew Pattison of Norwich City, both of whom have struggled to play regular first-team football.

Furman, also a midfielder, was born in Cape Town and made his senior debut for Rangers last season after signing from English Premier League side Chelsea in 2006.

Santana has made space in his team for Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy despite his outburst against the South African Football Association less than two weeks ago.

The Brazilian coach intends to use the fixture in London to introduce his youngsters to international football.

He said: "This game will afford me a chance to see the players in a game situation as I have only just come into the team and need to understand how each player responds in a game situation.

"Unlike at club level, at national level you don't have the luxury of having your players day in and day out. For instance, this is a short camp with only two limited training sessions. My players come from different parts of the world and from all corners of the country, and will leave immediately afterwards.

"So one therefore has to improvise on the given circumstances, but we must remain focused that our main objective is to deliver a world-class team for the 2010 World Cup.

"Our pyramid scheme, which was started by my predecessor, Carlos Parreira and approved by SAFA, must not be dismantled as it is the best model for this country."

Santana is also hoping to use the game as preparation for the 2010 World Cup and African Nations Cup qualifying campaign which resumes next month.

"We have to merge all the hard work put together in the past 16 months to produce a team for 2010. The 2010 African Cup of Nations qualifiers are therefore important for us, just as all the friendly games are."
