Victorian Training Centre 0
Hume City 3
(Richard Cardozo (2), Steven Weir)
@ Knights Stadium

HUME City shot into third with a comfortable 3-0 win over Victorian Training Centre at Knights Stadium.

A double from Richard Cardozo, his first goals of the season, helped City to their third win of the campaign and continued VTC’s inconsistent run.

Steven Weir opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour with his fourth of the campaign, hitting a shot into the bottom corner and past Sebastian Mattei.

Cardozo ensured City went into the break with a two-goal buffer when he headed in at the back post on the stroke of half time.

His second was an even simpler finish as Andy Vlahos put in a pinpoint cross from the left for Cardozo to tap in at the back post.

Vlahos struck the crossbar not long after but City still took a comprehensive win.

Bentleigh Greens 2 (Hayden Doyle, James McGarry)
St Albans Saints 0
@ Kingston Heath Soccer Complex

ST Albans remain the only winless team in the league after falling to a 2-0 loss at Bentleigh in a game where both teams finished with 10 men.

Second half goals from Hayden Doyle and James McGarry ensured the Greens broke a four-game winless run and left the Saints bottom for at least another week.

The game kicked into life after half an hour when Steve Laurie was sent off for violent conduct.

But the Saints didn’t hold a man advantage for long as Liam Cannell also saw red for a second bookable offence five minutes before the break.

Doyle put the hosts ahead on the hour mark with a free kick before Sean McIlroy provided James McGarry with the easiest of goals to make it 2-0 in stoppage time.

It was Bentleigh’s third win of the season while St Albans have put themselves in a difficult spot with games against South Melbourne and Oakleigh to come in the next two rounds.

Springvale White Eagles 4 (Goran Zoric (2), Milos Lujic, Zoran Vukas)
Richmond 1 (Antun Kovacic)
@ White Eagles Stadium

SPRINGVALE White Eagles moved out of the relegation zone with their first win of the season, a 4-1 thrashing of Richmond.

Star winger Goran Zoric scored a double to move equal top of the scoring charts as the open play of the White Eagles finally paid off.

Again, they made a brilliant start and Milos Lujic opened the scoring inside two minutes, a week after Zoric gave them the earliest of leads at St Albans.

But they were pegged back as Richmond defender Antun Kovacic headed home the equalizer, his second goal of the season.

Zoric struck either side of half time with two cracking strikes, one that flew into the top corner and the other into the bottom.

Zoric turned provider to seal the points, setting up Zoran Vukas to make it 4-1 and give the home side their first win of the season.

After beating reigning champions Green Gully last week, Richmond couldn’t back it up and sit in the bottom two at the end of round six.

Green Gully Cavaliers 0
Hume City 1
(Zoran Petrevski)
@ Green Gully Reserve

A SINGLE goal from Zoran Petrevski was enough for Hume City to make it three-straight wins with a 1-0 victory at Green Gully.

Both sides struggled to create anything clear-cut in the attacking third until Petrevski broke the deadlock nine minutes into the second half.

The striker capitalized on an error to lob a header over the advancing Nikola Roganovic and give City the only goal of the game.

It leaves reigning champions Gully sitting precariously one spot above the drop zone, while Hume are third.

Northcote City 1 (James Kalifatidis)
Dandenong Thunder 3 (Luke Sherbon, Chris Taylor, Jack Hingert)
@ John Cain Memorial Park

DANDENONG Thunder remain undefeated after recording a fighting 3-1 win over Northcote City.

After a scoreless first half, three goals were scored in seven minutes as Thunder took a 2-1 lead away from home.

Impressive midfielder Luke Sherbon opened the scoring before one of his partners in the middle of the park, Chris Taylor, doubled their advantage five minutes later.

City striker James Kalifatidis pegged one back for the hosts to make sure it would be a thrilling finish.

But former North Queensland Fury fullback Jack Hingert provided the third in stoppage time, playing in a more advanced midfield role.

Thunder have won five of their first six, while Northcote have lost back to back games and sit outside finals spots.

South Melbourne 3 (Daniel Vasilevski, Jesse Krncevic, Kyle Joryeff)
Melbourne Knights 1 (Josip Kozic)
@ John Cain Memorial Park

SOUTH Melbourne scored three times in the last quarter of an hour for a 3-1 derby win over Melbourne Knights.

Knights midfielder Josip Kozic had given the visitors the advantage early in the second half before South went on a rampage to run out victors.

Kozic nailed a penalty before South substitute Daniel Vasilevski scored a stunning free kick from 25 yards to level the scores.

In-form striker Jesse Krncevic moved equal top of the scoring charts when he tapped in to make it 2-1 before substitute Kyle Joryeff exposed the desperate Knights in stoppage time.

South have made a flying start to the season and although they are still without a clean sheet, they would be pleased to be sitting in second early on.

The Knights, who have been building up after a slow start, couldn’t hold on and will be glad to return home in round seven.

Heidelberg United 3 (Craig Elvin, Adrian Caceres, Osagie Ederaro)
Oakleigh Cannons 1 (Dane Milovanovic)
@ Olympic Park (Village)

HEIDELBERG United moved out of the relegation zone with a fantastic 3-1 win over Oakleigh Cannons.

The Bergers, who were docked three points earlier in the season, condemned the Cannons to their second-straight loss.

Craig Elvin gave the hosts the perfect start but scores were level 10 minutes into the second half courtesy of an equalizer from Oakleigh’s Dane Milovanovic.

But parity only lasted five minutes as Adrian Caceres and Osagie Ederaro gave Heidelberg the lead and a buffer to guarantee the three points.

After a strong start, Oakleigh have failed tests against South Melbourne and now Heidelberg while the Bergers will be glad to be back on track after their point deduction.
