The 21-year-old Australian defender had made only one appearance for Nurnberg this campaign thus hampering his Socceroos ambitions.

But Spiranovic has now sealed a deal with the Saitama-based club who are managed by German boss Volker Finke.

Finke, who led Urawa to a sixth place J.League finish in his first year in charge in 2009, is reported to have played a major role in the deal due to his German links.

Spiranovic may be seen as a direct replacement for Japan international Marcus Tulio Tanaka, who recently left Saitama to join Joshua Kennedy's Nagoya Grampus.

The Geelong-born defender's loan at Urawa will last for the entirety of the 2010 Japanese J.League season which typically kicks off in early March, giving him much needed game-time in the lead-up to the World Cup later this year.

According to the conditions of the deal, Urawa will have an option to buy Spiranovic at the end of the loan period.

Spiranovic becomes the second Australian to leave Germany for Japan, after Kennedy's successful move from Karlsruhe SC to Nagoya last year.
