MATTHEW Spiranovic could be set for a move to Melbourne Victory after joining the club for pre-season training.
While Spiranovic's link up with Victory is initially to stay fit, it's understood the fringe Australia international defender is available after making just 12 league appearances in the first season of his two-year deal with Qatar Stars League club.
Spiranovic, 24, is a potential addition to Ange Postecoglou's squad, as marquee man Marcos Flores continues to be linked with a move away from Victory.
Geelong-born Spiranovic counts German club Nurnberg and Urawa Reds of Japan as his former senior clubs, and was linked with English clubs Crystal Palace and Liverpool before opting for Al Arabi.
He has 16 international caps but failed to make the squad for the Socceroos' three World Cup qualifiers earlier in June.
Postecoglou reportedly believes Argentine playmaker Flores is not right for his system, piquing the interest of A-League rivals Central Coast Mariners among others.
Mauritian midfielder Jonathan Bru and forward Theo Markelis are also out of favour with Postecoglou and available for transfer.
Former Victory defensive utility Diogo Ferreira, having been released by the club in April, is poised to join Brisbane Roar.
The Australia youth international, 23, made 16 appearances in the 2012-13 season by was not handed a new deal, and is now set to join Roar coach Mike Mulvey's much-changed squad.
