au.fourfourtwo.com understands the 16-times capped Socceroo has joined the A-League reigning Premiers ahead of season nine kicking off on October 11.

It ends a club search since for Spiranovic since he parted ways with financially troubled Al Arabi in Qatar earlier this year.

Spiranovic, 25, had been training with Wanderers recently as well as with Melbourne Victory before leaving for Europe for trials a few weeks ago.

By signing with Tony Popovic’s side it means the former Nurnberg and Urawa Red Diamonds defender returns home some eight years after first moving overseas.

Geelong born Spiranovic played in a friendly for an experimental Melbourne Victory in 2005 meaning this season will be his first official stint in the A-League.

If the talented Spiranovic has a strong season at Wanderland, he offers the Socceroos another valuable option in central defence in the run in to Brazil 2014.
