JOSIP Skoko will not be playing in the A-League next season with the former Socceroo poised to join Croatian side Hajduk Split.
The 32-year-old has been weighing up his options after being told he would not be getting a new contract with English Premier League side Wigan Athletic.
Skoko's brother Ante, a member of the player's management group, has said Josip is pondering over potential switches to Split, Belgian side Genk and Turkish outfit Ankaraspor.
He told the Geelong Advertiser: "Hajduk Split is probably the frontrunner, he was club captain, he's got a home there and his wife is from there, so they're definitely the frontrunner.
"Things still have to be sorted out, but we reckon we'll have a deal done and he'll put pen to paper in the next week or two."
Skoko is negotiating a two-year deal, with the option of a third year.
He retired from international football last year, after playing 51 games and scoring nine goals for the Socceroos
