The Wanderers took the lead with a lovely strike from former Jet Mark Bridge in the first half, but Newcastle hit back in the second when Dimi Petratos fired home.

Western Sydney dominated the first half but the home side finished strongly, and the Jets were unlucky not to find a winner.

A shot from Jumpei was deflected straight towards Bridge in the 15th minute and the striker curled the ball past Jack Duncan to make it 1-0.

Newcastle lost Daniel Georgievski early to injury - the Jet fullback was brought off after just 12 minutes and replaced by Jason Hoffman.

The Wanderers then dominated most of the first half, with Nikolai Topor-Stanley heading over the bar 10 minutes from the interval.

But the Jets started strongly in the second half and Andrew Nabbout had a goal disallowed for offside in the 60th minute. Ernie Merrick had tried to spark his side's attack by replacing Wayne Brown with Joey Champness, and it began to pay dividends.

The decision ultimately paid off as Newcastle worked the ball wide, and after Vedran Janjetovic stopped Roy O'Donovan's shot, Petratos was there to tuck home the rebound.

Western Sydney lost control of the match completely when both Kearyn Baccus and Chris Herd were forced from the field with injuries. Merrick brought on striker Mario Shabow for midfielder Steven Urgarkovic in the final seven minutes, but the Jets had to settle for a point.

Both teams retain their undefeated status, but will be disappointed with the result.
