With 10 minutes left in the added period, Tiui netted twice to down the league champions after replacing Abel at half-time of extra time.

Tiui's free-kick gave Sporting the lead after deflecting off Porto captain Pedro Emanuel, leaving goalkeeper Nuno Espirito Santo with no chance.

With three minutes to play, Yanick Djalo set up Tiui on the counter-attack to seal the win.

Porto, who finished 14 points clear of Sporting in the league, could not recover from defender Joao Paulo's dismissal 20 minutes before the end of regular time for a foul on Moutinho.

Tiui said afterwards: "We showed that we could beat the best team in Portugal. This is fantastic.

"This victory showed our best game."

Porto boss Jesualdo Ferreira thought the dismissal turned the game.

He said: "After Joao Paulo was sent off we lost control of the game and everything was more difficult for us.

"Neither Sporting nor Porto played well. Congratulations to my players for their courage."

Sporting coach Paulo Bento added: "We were unable to adapt when Porto went down to 10 men. We could not manage our own game and we lost composure.

"This was a fair victory for all our fans, though."
