Tom Huddlestone's header earned Tottenham the point they needed in a 2-2 draw against Spartak Moscow.

Spurs had a woeful first 45 minutes at White Hart Lane where Artem Dzuba scored twice for the Russians.

It took Luka Modric's and Huddlestone's leveller to earn the draw they needed to be sure of a path out of Group D.

Half-time substitute Collins John and Jhon Van Beukering got the goals to send NEC through as they saw off Udinese 2-0.

Jonathan Bottinelli struck the only goal of the game as Sampdoria booked their spot in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup and sent highly-fancied Sevilla crashing out.

Bottinelli bundled in Reto Ziegler's free-kick with 15 minutes to go as Samp, who had started the game two points behind second-placed Sevilla, claimed one of the three qualifying places in Group C.

For Sevilla this defeat, combined with Stuttgart's 3-0 victory over group winners Standard Liege, shattered their hopes of claiming a third UEFA Cup title in four years having also won the trophy in 2006 and 2007.

Stuttgart finished second in the standings as Sami Khedira struck after just five minutes and Roberto Hilbert made it 2-0 in the 49th for the German side. Ciprian Marica then finished it off 18 minutes from time.

Manchester City finished top of Group A despite slumping to a 3-1 defeat at Racing Santander.

Jonathan Pereira put the Spaniards in front after 18 minutes before they stretched their advantage with goals from Oscar Serrano (30) and Juan Valera (54).

Felipe Caicedo pulled a goal back for City in stoppage time but it was too little too late for the English club.

Racing's win was not enough to see them progress as Paris St Germain hammered already-qualified FC Twente 4-0.

First-half goals by Peguy Luyindula and Stephane Sessegnon gave the French club a convincing half-time lead and late strikes by Mateja Kezman and Luyindula were enough to push them past Racing in the standings.

Metalist Kharkiv claimed top spot in Group B with a 1-0 victory at Benfica.

The Portuguese club needed at least eight goals to progress, but instead fell to their third defeat of the group stage thanks to a late goal from Olexander Rykun.

A 4-0 rout of Hertha Berlin ensured Olympiacos claimed the final qualifying place in the group.

Ernesto Valverde's Greek champions went into the game knowing a draw would see them through but second half goals from Dudu, Luciano Galletti, Vassilis Torosidis and Diogo clinched qualification along with Galatasaray and Metalist.
