Dimitar Berbatov believes Tottenham must learn from their mistakes if they are to fulfil the potential they have shown this season.
Spurs were knocked out of the Carling Cup semi-finals by Arsenal and reached the last eight of the FA Cup before Chelsea knocked them out in a replay yesterday.
Martin Jol's men remain in the UEFA Cup and are also chasing a top-six finish in the Barclays Premiership but Berbatov feels it is important to eliminate errors in the way elite teams do.
"We are still learning and maybe we have to learn from our mistakes so we don't make the same ones in the future," said the 26-year-old Bulgaria striker.
"That is the difference between the good clubs and the really good clubs.
"I am confident we will bounce back from this. It wasn't our first defeat and it won't be the last, but we must stop making mistakes."
Berbatov has scored 19 goals in his impressive rookie season in the Premiership, leading an attack that scored 26 times in the eight games before the Chelsea defeat.
At Stamford Bridge Jol's men had surrendered a 3-1 lead but the Premiership champions, with John Terry back in their defence, were less charitable in the replay,
"We have scored a lot of goals, but only one against Chelsea and that's what counts," said Berbatov after the 2-1 defeat.
"Every club has good defenders but it was difficult for me. This is Chelsea and you have to be good to play well against them."
Remaining in the UEFA Cup also appears to be a tough task as their quarter-final opponents are high-flying Sevilla.
Berbatov added: "We will give our best in the UEFA Cup, it is our only chance of winning a trophy.
"I still think we can do a lot but Sevilla are a very good club and it will be tough for us."
