Pohang Steelers picked up their first win of the season as they came from behind to defeat Daegu FC 2-1 in the K-League.
After a 1-0 loss in the opening round of the Asian Champions League at Adelaide United on February 24, Pohang were keen to avoid another defeat especially with a vital match against Sanfrecce Hiroshima on Wednesday.
Pohang sat out the opening round of the K-League season last weekend and were stunned when On Byung-hoon headed home Hwang Il-su's cross 10 minutes into the second-half to give Daegu the lead.
Eight minutes later, however, Pohang - who had missed a number of opportunities - were level when Noh Byung-joon headed home Kim Jae-sung's corner.
Last year's bottom side held out until nine minutes from time when Pohang's new Brazilian signing Almir fired a left-footed shot past goalkeeper Baek Min-cheol.
"It was a tough game," said Pohang coach Waldemar Lemos de Oliveira.
"We were able to get the goals in the second half and so got the win. We showed today that we will keep going until the end in order to achieve victory.
"We are not too worried about the chances we missed. We practice shooting often in training."
Suwon Bluewings bounced back from their opening day defeat at Jeonbuk Motors to overcome Busan I'Park 4-3 at home.
Jung Sung-hoon took advantage of keeper Lee Woon-jae mistake to give the visitors a sixth minute lead but two goals each from Jose Mota and Seo Dong-hyun helped Suwon survive a Busan fightback.
Finally, Jeonbuk Motors were held to a 2-2 draw at Jeju United.
