David Carney played 65 minutes of Norwich City's 2-0 win over Watford as they continue their fight to stay above the drop zone and Nick Carle played the full shift but Crystal Palace lost out to Southampton 1-0.

Hero of the weekend was Tim Cahill who scored for Everton as they battled Aston Villa for the ‘best of the rest' - fifth position on the English Premier League table.

Minutes after Marouane Fellaini scored the opener for Everton, Tim had two attempts at heading in a corner for the Blues with the first hitting the crossbar but the next going in for Everton's second goal.

Villa goalkeeper Brad Friedel denied another shot by Cahill later in the first half but Villa fought back to draw the match 3-3.

Mark Schwarzer's Fulham advanced their battle for a European place by defeating big spending Manchester City 3-1.

Vinnie Grella came off the bench for Blackburn Rovers against Liverpool on Sunday with the Rovers down 2-0. Vinnie couldn't stop the Liverpool rout however and Rovers went down 4-0.

West Ham skipper Lucas Neill played the full shift against London rivals Tottenham. However Lucas earned a yellow card for fouling Luka Modric and minutes later Modric got past Neill and set up Roman Pavlyuchenko to win the game for Spurs 1-0.

Brad Jones made some vital saves for Middlesbrough as they fought for premier league survival against Hull. With the game at 1-1 after ten minutes Jones stole the ball from Bernard Mendy and later stopped Craig Fagan from shooting for the Tigers. Boro went on to win 3-1.

In the Scottish Premier League Scott McDonald played the full ninety minutes but Celtic's lead at the top of the table was narrowed to one point as they drew 1-1 with Heart of Midlothian.

Danny Invincibile had several shots on goal for Kilmarnock against Falkirk. His first effort was parried by the Falkirk keeper but Kevin Kyle followed through for Kilmarnock's opener. Danny had two more attempts but one was saved and he fluffed a header with his final attempt.

Trent McClenahan returned for Hamilton Academicals match against James Wesolowski's Dundee United. Both lads played the full shift with Dundee triumphing 1-0.

On the continent Mark Bresciano came off the bench at half time with Palermo down 2-0 to Internazionale and helped them recover for a 2-2 draw against the Serie A leaders.

Jason Culina played the full match for PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie as they continue their battle for fourth spot on the table defeating FC Utrecht 2-0. Nikita Rukavytsa came on in the 77th minute for FC Twente with Twente defeating Roda JC Kerkrade 4-2.

Michael Beauchamp played the full shift for Aab in Denmark but they went down 1-0 to Odense BK.

Further East Luke Wilkshire played the full match of Dinamo Moscow's 1-0 win over FK Rostov-Na-Donu in the Russian Premier League.

Nathan Burns made an appearance off the bench in the 80th minute for AEK Athens in the Greek Super League but they lost 1-0 to Aris Salonika.

Harry Kewell came off in injury time for Galatasaray's 0-0 draw with Fernerbache while Michael Petkovic kept another clean sheet for Turkish Super Lig Leaders Sivasspor as they defeated Antalyaspor 1-0.

Bruce Djite was injured but Mile Jedinak and James Troisi both started for Genclerbirligi in their 1-0 win over Konyaspor.

In Romania Josh Rose and Spase Dilevski both started the match for Universitatea Craiova in their 1-0 loss to Timisoara.
