Stoke City manager Mark Hughes wants to secure the loan signing of Benfica forward Nelson Oliveira.
The Premier League side have been heavily linked with the 21-year-old, who was on loan at Deportivo La Coruna from the Estadio de Luz last term.
Hughes confirmed "there's an interest" in bringing the Portugal international to the Britannia Stadium, saying he would bring a new dimension to Stoke's forward line.
"He's a player I've seen before and who I know. He's a little bit different to what we've got," he told The Sentinel.
"I'm not sure how far down the line we are but, if we can get him, he'll be a good player for us.
"He's young, but he has played for his country, so he obviously has a good pedigree, and I'm sure we will try and get games out of him straight away."
Hughes also quashed speculation that Honduras international Wilson Palacios is set to leave the club.
"I've had conversations with Wilson and I'm pleased with what I've seen so far," Hughes said.
"I've been pleased with his work on the training ground and I think he could be a good option for us this year."
The 28-year-old midfielder had been linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Hull City.
