BORO boss Gordon Strachan believes new signing Scott McDonald will make a huge impact in the English Championship and will continue his Celtic goalscoring form.
The Socceroos striker joined his former boss earlier this week, and Strachan has plenty of faith in the 26-year-old Melbourne-born striker.
"Scott can score goals at every level - give him a chance and he'll score," he told the Middlesbrough's official site. "He's scored in Old Firm games, he's scored against Manchester United and against AC Milan in the Champions League.
"I'm delighted. It's not the most settling period in the club's history but there has to be change at the club because we've plodded along for the last couple of years.
"Everyone can see where our problems have been, that we need to score more goals. The new forwards will be a big help but we also need our midfielders to produce in the box.
"There were other players I wanted to bring in, players I tried for, but those I've brought in are hungry players who want to get better and who don't just want to go with the flow.
"The fans can see it with Barry Robson and Willo Flood, they are players who have come from Celtic where they have to win every game. They're not used to getting beaten and they have that drive and will to compete in any game, anywhere."
