The Hoops boss has already recruited German defender Andreas Hinkel from Sevilla but Belgium centre-back Daniel van Buyten looks unlikely to be the next player to arrive in the east end of Glasgow.

The 29-year-old went on record this week saying he would consider a loan move to the Scottish champions after falling out of favour at Bayern Munich.

But reports today suggest van Buyten will remain with the Bundesliga giants and fight for his place after holding talks with incoming boss Jurgen Klinsmann, who takes over from Ottmar Hitzfeld in the summer.

Strachan admitted Hinkel could be his only January capture, but could not rule out further movement on the transfer front before the month is out.

He told Celtic View: "We've sealed one deal in Andreas. But we have not looked at too many more - there might only be one player who comes in.

"We've had loads to look at just in case and you have to be on your front foot in case there is a ridiculous bid for someone in your team.

"You always cover that and you continually look to find better.

"It's taken a while but we have Andreas and the good news is that Mark Wilson is coming back as well.

"In terms of him and other people coming back to full fitness, we should be all right for the season ahead.

"We might want to add one more but we will continue to be prepared in case someone moves out."

Meanwhile, Scott Brown is hoping Celtic have rediscovered their goalscoring form after netting six goals in their last two games against Gretna and Stirling Albion respectively.

Kilmarnock are the visitors in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League this weekend, having earned a goalless draw the last time they travelled to Parkhead on the opening day of the season.

Celtic dominated that day but simply could not put the ball in the back of the net and Brown is keen to avoid a repeat this time around.

The midfielder said: "Looking back, I think that game against Killie was one of our best performances this season.

"We kept the ball, passed it about well and made loads of chances. But we drew 0-0.

"I can remember going into the dressing room after the game and the gaffer just said that he couldn't fault us for anything. We just couldn't score that day.

"We only got a point that day and just one goal would have made a big difference. We were just so unlucky.

"There have been other games like that this season. We were 2-0 up at Caley a few weeks ago and I think we were a bit unlucky in the end to lose 3-2.

"We lost a few silly goals and I think the whole team were disappointed with the way we lost.

"But that's football and we need to move on from that and make sure it doesn't happen again."
