The unusual move comes in the wake of the recent SPL working group meeting, in which Strachan, along with five other top-flight bosses, were invited to Hampden to discuss how to make improvements in the game.

The remaining six managers have now been consulted and have agreed not to discuss refereeing decisions in post-match interviews for the rest of the season.

Strachan, however, denied it would be difficult to hold his tongue in the event of losing a game through a poor decision.

The Hoops boss even had a gentle dig at Dundee United boss Craig Levein, who was fined £5,000 by the Scottish Football Association earlier in the season for remarks he made about Mike McCurry during his side's 3-1 defeat at Rangers last May.

"It has happened to us this season and we have managed to do it," Strachan said.

"If you look back at the Champions League, there was big decisions there and we had to deal with it.

"It's not easy - I understand where Craig Levein is coming from!

"I've been there myself but we think we should take the pressure off referees a bit.

"I've been to games, and I've heard people talking against us about referees, and they've missed the beauty of the game.

"They've missed the good goals and the good performances, because everybody talks about refereeing decisions.

"If we want to promote the game properly, we must promote good goals and good play and there has been a lot of that this season.

"Whether it works or not, I don't know, but it's worth a try."
