The precious point takes the Terriers up to 16th place and four points above 18th-placed Swansea City with just one game left.

Remarkably Huddersfield, who were promoted from the Championship last year, have held Manchester City and Chelsea in consecutive draws to amazingly avoid the drop.

"We knew it was going to be a tough game, they're very good on the ball so we had to get closer and make it difficult, so we did it quite well," Mooy said.

"Results change all the time, you have to keep a level head and keep going. The manager's done an amazing job."

Mooy helped set up the Terriers' goal in the 50th minute, his long ball to Laurent Depoitre ending with the striker eventually scoring with his second attempt, after his first was saved.

The Blues tied it up at 1-1 at Stamford Bridge 12 minutes later through Marcos Alonso.

Huddersfield had to withstood tremendous pressure in the final stages of the game to claim the draw and secure their Premier League status for another year.

The west Yorkshire club have one of the smallest budgets in the English top flight.

Both Mooy and Mat Ryan's club Brighton have avoided relegation this season.
