Bayern Munich triumphed 2-1 in Saturday's final at Wembley thanks to a late winner from Arjen Robben and Subotic argued that was the only difference between the two German clubs, as Dortmund had failed to hit the back of the net when they dominated the first half.

Robben's 89th-minute goal ensured victory for Bayern after Ilkay Gundogan's penalty for Dortmund had cancelled out Mario Mandzukic's opening strike on the hour mark.

"The goal from Robben was the difference obviously," Subotic said.

"I think what was missing was that we didn't take our chances.

"We had some great chances at the beginning of the match and also some in the second half but we didn't really use them.

"We did get the penalty but Bayern had some great chances and they took two of them, so that's what made the difference."

Robben's goal ensured Bayern ended their poor run in Champions League deciders.

The Bavarian club had played in four previous finals in the Champions League-era, losing three, including two in the past three seasons.

While Subotic was disappointed with the result, the 24-year-old Serbian central defender conceded the match was probably enjoyable for the neutral supporters.

"I bet it was fun to watch for the fans because we started out great and had some good chances," Subotic said.

"Bayern were anything but a bad opponent, they were very dangerous from corners today so it was a very open match for sure."
