Duckpond FC has celebrated winning the Colchester and District Sunday League title by splashing £4,000 ($7,000 AUD) on an open-top double-decker bus to parade around Essex.

The side was formed in Harwich, Essex in 2011 and has won promotion three times since their formation, marking each success with a bus parade around town.

The team won 15 of their 16 matches this season, and also secured the Fowler Memorial Cup final, beating Harts FC 3-0.

Many of their supporters and locals took to social media to share the celebrations.

Duckpond FC even took to the skies, with a plane carrying a banner with a message reading 'Duckpond FC Champions of Essex'.

Player-manager Michael Hammond, who also founded the club, said: "We want the world to know we won."

"We've won all the divisions now - we're officially the best Sunday League team in Essex.

"Grassroots football is dying, so many teams are folding or have quit. But it's on days like this you realise it's not the level of football but the passion and commitment."

The 'Champions of Essex' are sure to land themselves cult status among many football fans.
