EXCLUSIVE: Brisbane is the place to be on Saturday with the W-League grand final and Roar's state of origin clash with Sydney FC, says TV football presenter Liz Deep-Jones.
This Saturday's inaugural W-League final at Ballymore Stadium is between Queensland Roar and Canberra United.
Deep-Jones will be pitchside for ABC-TV's live broadcast on Saturday afternoon and says if the game is as good as last week's semi between Roar and Sydney also at Ballymore, then it should be worth seeing.
"Canberra are the only team to have beaten Roar in the W-League's first season. Roar will be out to inflict revenge on the gutsy Canberra side in front of an expected record breaking crowd," she told au.fourfourtwo.com.
"Last weekend's semi-final displayed the incredible prowess of the female players of this country."
The second semi final between Roar and Sydney was one of the matches of the season. Queensland and Sydney FC battled it out for 30 minutes until the dynamic Tameka Butt found space and found the back of the net to lead 1-0.
The home crowd were stunned into silence when super sub Linda O'Neil came on in the second half and smashed a magnificent equaliser with her first touch to level.
The game went into extra time onto penalties. Queensland emerged the victor.
"The performances from all teams in front of six thousand fans were outstanding and extremely entertaining," said Deep-Jones.
Following the W-League grand final is the vital clash in the A-League at nearby Suncorp Stadium, and au.fourfourtwo.com will be in Brisbane to cover all the drama of Super Saturday.
"What a great day ahead we have for fans in Brisbane," added Deep-Jones.
Meanwhile Liz's children's book Lucy Zeezou has reached the hands of football royalty.
While in Dubai training with his club AC Milan, Italian great Paolo Maldini gave the book his personal stamp of approval (photo courtesy of AC Milan Academy).
One of the characters in the book is loosely based on the Italian legend and he describes the book as "imaginative and exciting".
Currently the book is being considered by Italian publishing giant Rizzoli and for the Brazilian market.
