The Football Association has fined Liverpool striker Suso £10,000 for posting an inappropriate comment on Twitter.
The charge relates to a remark that accompanied a photograph of Jose Enrique having his teeth whitened that read: “What f*** is he doing ?... This guy is gay.
"He has some mentals problems. He does everything except play football."
A statement on the FA's website read: "The charge, which the player admitted and requested a paper hearing, was that he acted in a way which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute in that the comment was posted on his Twitter account and included a reference to a person/s sexual orientation and/or disability."
The 19-year-old later removed the comment, posting an apology: "I didn't mean it in that way about 'gay'. Don’t want anyone to feel offended. Just joking. But anyway sorry."
Suso has featured on 13 occasions for the Reds this season but not in the Premier League since the 3-0 win over Wigan at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling is close to signing a new five-year Liverpool contract early in the new year, Goal.com understands.
The Merseyside club are nearing an agreement with the 18-year-old on a heavily incentivised deal, which is expected to start at a basic 30,000 pounds-a-week with staggered pay rises every year.
Negotiations have centred on the top-up bonuses for appearances, goals and Champions League qualification but both parties are confident that Sterling will shortly put pen to paper.
Manchester United have been among the clubs keen to take advantage of the teenager's contract stand-off should the situation not be resolved.
However, recent negotiations between Liverpool and Sterling's camp have been fruitful, which should result in the player, whose current deal expires in 18 months, committing to the club up until 2018.
