He told the Manchester Evening News this week that he was preparing another attempt to take him to the UK when the next transfer window opens.

"We were always interested in him," Eriksson said. "He might be a possibility, but it is too early.

"Let's wait for a couple of months then see exactly what we need."

Bresciano appeared to have done a deal to move to the Premiership after passing a medical and training with City.

But Palermo claim City suddenly changed the terms of the deal and wanted to pay his $10million transfer fee in instalments.

They pulled the plug after the new deal would have left them short of cash to sign a replacement.

It would have been Bresh's debut in the UK after a career spent mostly playing in the Italian Serie A.

At the time Bresciano admitted he was getting stale in his role with Palermo and was relishing a change.

City would next be able to buy Bresciano when the transfer window reopens for a month, starting Jan. 1, 2008.

Bresciano has scored 9 goals in 37 internationals.

Eriksson has spent about $75million of new owner Thaksin Shinawatra's money on eight players since being appointed on July 6.

City stands fifth in the Premier League with nine points from five games.
