SVEN Goran Eriksson is favourite to land the Socceroos job with one bookmaker reporting big backing for the ex England and Ivory Coast boss.
British bookmaker William Hill has Eriksson in from 5-1 to 3-1, according to a report in The Australian.
There was speculation earlier in the week that 46-year-old Paul Le Guen was high on the list of potential replacements for Pim Verbeek.
But Le Guen's odds have lengthened, with the Frenchman going from 5-2 to 9-2.
Others names that have been linked with the role include Leo Beenhakker, Frank Rijkaard, Johan Neeskens, Ruud Gullit, Gerard Houllier and Ossie Ardiles.
