Central defender Situ, who can also play as a holding midfielder, arrives from Lens on a two-year deal with Swansea paying an initial fee of £250,000.

The 19-year-old, who has captained France from Under-16 up to Under-19 level, had also attracted the interest of Newcastle, where he spent time on trial, and Fulham, but elected to make the move to south Wales.

He told Swansea's website: "I was told about Swansea's interest about 10 days ago and I have been researching the club ever since on the internet.

"I'm really excited about joining Swansea and the Premier League. I watch the Premier League on TV a lot back home and I am a big fan.

"There was interest from the likes of Fulham and Newcastle, but Swansea were the ones who wanted me the most and I am delighted to be here.

"I have met the manager and I am looking forward to working with him and gaining from his experience."

Bessone, meanwhile, will provide some much-needed cover at left-back after securing his return to the Liberty Stadium on a two-year deal.

The acquisition of the 27-year-old comes just days after Alan Tate was ruled out for six months after breaking his leg in a golf buggy accident.

The Argentina-born defender previously spent two seasons with the Swans before moving to Leeds last summer.

But he made just six appearances under Simon Grayson at Elland Road before moving to Charlton on loan in January, and he was released from his contract on Wednesday in order for him to seal his return to south Wales.

Bessone will provide back-up to first-choice Neil Taylor, and is delighted to be back with the Swans.

He said: "I can't express how delighted I am to be back here.

"When the call came from Swansea I was so excited. I just got into my car and drove straight down because I have such a good feeling for the club and I had a fantastic time here.

"The people have always been so nice to me, and now I am back as part of the family it makes me feel so happy."
