AZ Alkmaar have made their first signing for the new season with midfielder Pontus Wernbloom set to join the Eredivisie champions in the summer.
The 22-year-old Swede put pen to paper on a four-year deal today and will make the move from IFK Gothenburg.
"We have had our eyes on Wernbloom for a long time, although the media thought we were after another player," AZ's technical director Marcel Brands said.
"Pontus is a big, strong midfielder who can score goals. He has made a great impression in the Sweden Under-21 squad and can play in every position in midfield.
"I hope we will enjoy his stay with us."
Wernbloom, who has also been capped twice by Sweden at senior level, has scored 22 goals in 86 matches for IFK.
