Helsingborg lost at home to GAIS on Saturday, affording Malmo the chance to move into the outright lead in the race for the title.

They went ahead after 27 minutes through Jiloan Hamad, but had to wait until 10 minutes from time for Daniel Larsson to add a second.

Guillermo Molins added a third moments from the end as Malmo built a lead which, with just four matches to go, could prove decisive.

Third-placed Orebro were beaten 2-1 at Hacken, Paulinho grabbing the winner five minutes from time after Patrik Anttonen had looked to have salvaged a point for the visitors when he struck just before the hour mark to equalise Jonas Henriksson's opener.

That allowed fourth-placed Elfsborg to close to within two points as they stormed back to beat Atvidaberg 4-1 thanks to four second-half goals.

Haris Radetinac gave Atvidaberg the lead after 27 minutes, and it stayed that way until Stefan Ishizaki levelled two minutes into the second period.

He notched his second after 61 minutes, before late strikes from Johan Larsson and substitute James Keene gave the scorline a lopsided look.

Goals from Kennedy Igboananike and Sharbel Touma either side of half-time saw Djurgarden claim a 2-1 win after Kenny Pavey had put AIK ahead with a ninth-minute penalty.

Goals from Joe Sise and Jonas Saevarsson saw Halmstad beat Brommapojkarna 2-0, allowing Gefle to move off the bottom with a 1-1 draw at Kalmar.

Dragan Kapcevic opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time for the strugglers, but Daniel Mendes levelled after 73 minutes.

The match between IFK Goteborg and Mjallby ended goalless.
